Why Doesn’t the White House “Remember the Cole?”
I was visiting Michelle Malkin’s site reading about the various “Tea Party Movement’s” activities when I came across an article from August that made me very angry as both a Veteran and an American who strongly supports our troops. I don’t care that this is old news; so, just bear with me. The post I found , Dept. of Social Justice strikes again: USS Cole bombing prosecution “shelved”, wrote about Obama Administration’s decision “not” to try “Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged coördinator of the Oct. 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole in Yemen”. This was what the government filed with the court. Everything was all set to go on both sides. Now, the man behind the terrorist attack on the U.S.S. Cole on October 12, 2000 while refueling at a port in Yemen is sitting back laughing at American justice!
Seventeen American Servicemen lost their lives on that day when two suicide bombers rammed their explosive laden boat into the U.S.S. Cole. First, President Clinton, as he did after all attacks on America by al-Qaeda failed to seek justice. Now, Obama is failing to follow through, even though all the evidence needed is at hand, and take the perpetrators to trial. I think most of Clinton’s failure had to do with an over attachment to his “zipper!” Anonymous word is Obama wants to try other “high-profile ” prisoners at Guantanamo Bay civil court. What one has to do with the other is beyond my comprehension~ Al-Qaeda is laughing themselves silly over this lame excuse. Maybe Obama and Clinton can explain to the nation, and, especially the families of all those who died that day, why those responsible are still not prosecuted!!
U.S. personnel killed were: Electronics Technician 1st Class Richard Costelow, Mess Management Specialist Lakina Francis, Information Systems Technician Tim Guana, Signalman Seaman Recruit Cherone Gunn, Seaman James McDaniels, Engineman 2nd Class Mark Nieto, Electroncs Warfare Technician 3rd Class Ronald Owens, Seaman Recruit Lakiba Parker, Engineman Fireman Joshua Parlett, Fireman Apprentice Patrick Roy, Electronics Warfare Technician Kevin Rux, Petty Officer 3rd Class Ron Santiago, Operations Special 2nd Class Timoty Sanders, Fireman Gary Swenchonis Jr., Ensign Andrew Triplett, and Seaman Apprentice Craig Wibberly.
I don’t know about anyone else, but this is inexcusable. It is a travesty to the memory of those sailors lost on October 12, 2000. To dishonor our service men and women in this way is shameful. Our departed service members deserve better!! So I ask, Why doesn’t the White House “Remember the Cole??
