Troop’s Voting rights re-affirmed

The Tullytown Council in Pennsylvania has made a complete about face with regards to whether or not deployed members can vote on Council issues. You may remember that last year, Councilman Joseph Shellenberger, the newly elected council president, was not allowed to vote. He had been called to serve in Afghanistan at the time.

There was such an out cry by fellow veterans, veteran groups, and the public, the dissenters were voted out of office. The new council had no problem whatsoever agreeing to allow deployed members to vote via speakerphone once it was determined not to be in violation of Pennsylvania law.
