Marine Sgt. Eddie Ryan doesn’t know the meaning of the word “quit!”
Sgt. Eddie Ryan – Va. Mortgage Center.com Finalist in “Honor Your Hero” Contest!!

Well, I can’t believe it! I got a call yesterday evening from a representative at Va. Mortgage Center.com telling me my nominee, Sgt. Eddie Ryan, has been selected as a finalist in their “Honor Your Hero” contest.
As you will recall, Eddie was shot by “friendly” fire while deployed in Iraq. Repeatedly his family was told Eddie would not survive. But, survive he did. His family was then told Eddie would never remember anything, including his loved ones and his previous life. Well, Eddie does remember his past and he remembers all his loved ones. Eddie’s family was told that he would never talk, walk, or do many of those other things most of us take for granted. Again, he talks, writes [he wrote me a letter of thanks], walks with help. He may not run any marathons [yet], but, who knows what he will accomplish next!!
Eddie’s family has stood at his side throughout his recovery. They refused to allow doctors to give up on Eddie. Their mantra became their religious quotes of faith and strong belief in the powers of God.
The V.A. has provided some of Eddie’s rehab; but, feels Eddie has “peaked.” Yet, Eddie and his family’s strong faith and shear willpower has continued to motivate Eddie to continued progress. Meanwhile, Eddie’s family had to find a way to make $90,000.00 “+” in renovations so Eddie could come home. Some very kind and generous people and businesses helped them with donations.
Since the V.A. feels Eddie has reached his peak, the family must now pay for Eddie’s continued therapy needs to aide him toward further recovery. Money will be a very big issue for some time for Eddie and his family. Winning this contest will be a “drop in the bucket” when it comes to what Eddie still needs. But, it will surely help!
Eddie inspires all who meet him or hear about him. He inspires other soldiers who, like Eddie, have very serious and life impairing injuries. He gives them and their loved ones hope when their injuries make them feel hopeless!
Please go to the link and vote for Eddie Ryan for “Honor Your Hero”. While you’re there, read about the other nine finalists. In my book they are all Heroes!!
