“I have a dream!”

The other day we all heard another audio tape from Osama bin Laden. I found it to be rather conflicting in its messages. Who was he offering a truce? Was it the United States? The Coalition? The Iraqi and Afghans? Frankly, I found that part of the message unclear! Especially, when he also discussed further impending attacks that al Qaida would inflict on the United States.

The Islamic extremists and terrorists are like an invasion world wide. They have made no secret of the fact that they intend ultimately to establish a new caliphate and take over the world. Those who don’t convert will be killed.

Well, I like my religion. I have no desire to change it to anything else. I invested a number of years in my religious search. What I can’t understand is why there are so many peoples who can’t see the threat these fanatics represent. Our country exists today because one of the reasons our forefathers came here and established this country was for freedom of religious persuasion.

The threat presented by al Qaida to me is no different than an invasion from extra terrestrial invaders in that this war is of world wide significance. The enemy will kill any who do not believe as they do as they attempt to conquer the whole world and make us all “extremist” Muslims. We will not only lose our freedom of religion, we will lose freedom of speech, our personal liberties, all those principles in the Bill of Rights and Constitution we hold so dear.

So why can’t the rest of the world unite together and put an end to all this? Because people refuse to put aside petty differences and disagreements and work together until they are immediately threatened. Our most out spoken opponent in this war is France of all nations. Yet last week the president of France said he wouldn’t hesitate to use nuclear weapons if attacked. Looks like he is finally beginning to realize all those Muslim extemists in France are a very real threat. And he has the gall to criticize us! Thinking of his criticism of the US and his latest comment the only word repeatable I can think of is “hypocrite!”

We need a hero to step up to the plate like in that movie, “Independence Day.” Remember that awesome speech the president gave just before all the nations stood together and launched a united attack against the invaders:

“President Thomas Whitmore:Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!” We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!”

I love that speech. It is moving. It says we are united as a world against a common enemy. That as a united world body of citizens, we will not let an enemy destroy us or take away our rights, even our very lives. Like the Romans, Alexander the great or Phillip, Ghengis Khan or Hitler these extremists want to conquer the whole world. Unlike those other power hungry self idoltous men bin Laden has the means to conquer the world.

Through sleeper cells trained and sent out all over the world they use the Koran and a doctored interpretation of what it says to draw in millions of Muslims. They have a particular appeal for the poor and disenfranchised. They prey on their poverty and their desire for self empowerment.

That’s why I say we need a hero to step up to the plate. Someone who can make the whole world listen. Make them understand just how serious and dangerous these terrorists really are. I can almost hear him or her giving a speech that unites the whole non-terrorists peoples in an all out attack against these nut cases to end this war once and for all:

Hero;Good morning.

In less than an hour, ground forces and aircraft from here will join others from around the free world. And you will be launching the largest battle in the history of free nations. “Free Nations.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not only from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… But from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “As free nations, we will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish or give up our rights and freedom without a fight!” We’re going to live on free! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day from terrorism and terrorists regimes forever!”

Being the optimist that I am, I can see people all over the world who want to be free, picking up weapons, guns, knives, sticks, hoes, whatever, and moving as one wave against all those who oppress and kill those of us who want to be free or those who are free and shouting as they run toward these terrorists Patrick Henry’s famed words, “Give me Liberty, or Give me death!”

Then like the British in that Johnny Horton song, “The Battle of New Orleans,’ we’ll watch as “they ran through the briars and they ran through the bushes, and they ran through places that a rabbit wouldn’t go! They ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch them. Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico!”

Only the words would look something like this: “they ran through the desert, they ran through the mountains, they ran through places a goat couldn’t go. They ran so fast the humvees couldn’t catch them, down the Tigis and Euphrates, and the rocky mountain passes, wave after wave of cowards they did flow!”
