Are our troops now being forced to throw “stones” at the enemy??

“A day in Iraq”http://www.adayiniraq.com/ says that the troops have been forbidden to carry Grenades or AT-4’s. What are our troops supposed to do, throw damn stones at the enemy?? This has got to be the most dangerous and dumbest command I have ever heard of a Milirary Commander giving his/her troops! Has politics begun to filter into the War in Iraq? Are politics tying the hands of our troops? If an enemy fighter uses an RPG against our troops, what do our troops do in self defense, run like hell?? I hate to be crude, but someone has their head up their a$$!!

If our military leaders start restricting the ability of our troops to defend themselves under the rules of engagement a dangerous precedent is being set. Do the powers to be not have enough foresisht to realize the enemy will take notice of this restriction?

I support what we are doing in Iraq. I support the efforts in the War on Terror. But for God’s sake, don’t take away from our troops a most essential means of self defense. Whose dumb idea was this new rule any way? A day in Iraq brings up a good point when he says:

“It really comes down to trust as far as I’m concerned. The person responsible for this rule basically doesn’t trust us. He doesn’t have faith in the individuals under his command to use discretion when handling these weapons. It’s nice to know our leaders don’t have enough confidence in us to entrust us with the tools of war. Grenades and AT-4’s are an essential part of the infantryman’s repertoire. Taking them away puts us at a disadvantage and basically empowers the enemy. Can you imagine a plumber showing up to your house with no tools.”

There have often been those blind fools who tried to compare Iraq to Vietnam, though there was no comparison. Vietnam was a civil war. We didn’t know that when we first went there. Over 50,000 dead soldiers later, countless POWs and MISs later we got out of that war. Out troops were treated like war mongers. Big business and politics caused many more people to die than necessary due to politics and corporate greed.

For the first time I see a parallel in Iraq to Vietnam with this rediculous order for our troops. A bunch of a$$holes started doing all this micky mouse stuff to tie the hands of our troops there too. We have “Rules of Engagement” and the Geneva Convention!

  1. The problem is partly a result of the excessive scrutiny of the media playing into the hands of the enemy. They know how to use the media. Our troops have to account for “every single bullet” they fire. When they return to base, they file reports accounting for their expended weaponry down to the single bullet. How the heack can soldiers fight a war this way?

  2. THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I’VE EVER HEARD HOW ARE THE TROOPS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM BEING KILLED WHEN THEY HAVE NO WEAPONS TO HELP THEM. THERE WILL SURELY BE SOME DEATHS FROM THIS AND I FEEL SORRY FOR THE FAMILIES WHO LOOSE THEIR LOVED ONES.
