Iraq

The events in Iraq have been taking a back burner lately to the news of the death of Mr. Hariri in Lebanon and the President’s trip to Europe. Then there was Ms. Rice’s trip abroad as the new Secretary of State. She seems to be able to hold her own very well. Of course Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton are in Indonesia to view first hand the tsunami damages. From their reports, things there are even worse than first reported. So all these events have cast a temporary shadow on Iraq.

But we haven’t forgotten you guys. We are still 100% behind you. We still pray every day for the safe return of all of you. I do see that the insurgents are really trying to wear down the Iraqi people. First they made the Sunni afraid to vote. Now they are killing Shi’ia. I am convinced they want to cause a split between the Sunni and the Shi’ia. But, I think the two sects are aware of what is happening and why.

To me it seems that there has been a big change in the Iraqi people since the election. They appear to have discovered the feeling of self empowerment. Hurrah for them.!
